Chapter 1199: Official representative
Chapter 1199: Official representative
After a moment of silence, the Merman King added, "There's something else that I want to discuss with you."
I was surprised to hear this, but I gave a nod to show that I was listening.
The Merman King didn't speak right away, as if he was hesitating over something.
I couldn't help raising a brow since I had no idea what he had to hesitate over at this point.
Did it have something to do with the corruption?
Did they find something after their research?
Something that was hard to tell me?
In the end, it was the Merman Queen who urged the Merman King to speak even though it seemed like he didn't want to.
With a sigh, he said, "Our Merman Empire has decided to send an official representative to your Kite Kingdom to represent our interests and to solidify our cooperation with you."
I was surprised to hear this since I didn't expect something like this, but I gave a simple nod and waited for who their representative would be.
It was just that it wasn't the Merman King who told me.
It was Ariel who was sitting there on the side.
She had been silent the entire time, which should have been a tipoff since she wasn't the kind of person to remain silent like this. It seemed that she had been keeping it in this entire time so she wouldn't spoil the surprise.
"It's me." Ariel said with an excited tone to her voice.
There was also what seemed to be a trace of triumph as if she had won a hard fought battle.
But thinking about it, with how unwilling the Merman King and Merman Queen were to let her leave the Merman Empire in the first place, one could consider it a hard fought battle. Even now, the Merman King looked unhappy when he heard Ariel say this.
It was clear that what he had been hesitant over was letting Ariel leave the Merman Empire to go to the human world.
It seemed that I had been worried about nothing.
Well, it wasn't that I had been worried about nothing since there was an implication to the Merman King allowing Ariel to go to the human world.
It meant that they felt that it was too dangerous for Ariel to stay in the Merman Empire now that the corruption had appeared.
In a sense, they were sending her away to keep her safe.
Only it didn't seem that Ariel saw it that way.
She saw it as her opportunity...
Even if she was someone that was optimistic, it wasn't as if she was someone that was dumb. Ariel should have known that her parents were just sending her away to keep her safe, rather than actually grudgingly agreeing to this to let her do what she wanted.
No, when I looked at her closely, I could tell that there was something different about her. After spending some time with Ariel, I could say that I could see through her emotions to a certain extent. Based on what I could see, I could tell that she was just barely holding it in, she was acting this way out of concern for her parents.
Neither side wanted the other side to worry, so they were both acting this way.
I didn't want to put a damper on the brave mood that they showed, but there was something that I had to say.
I didn't say it out loud, but rather leaned in towards the Merman King who was beside me to say in a small voice, "It isn't as if the human world is safe either."
He had a calm look on his face, but I could see that there was a slight tremble because his intentions had been seen through.
After a moment of silence, he said, "But it's safer than under the sea right now. There's no telling where the corruption will come from and based on our research into the corruption, it seems like there's more to it."
I slightly knitted my brows upon hearing this, but I quickly relaxed my face to not show anything before saying in a small voice, "Is it related to the demons?"
The Merman King didn't respond right away, but he eventually said with a sigh, "I don't know."
I once again slightly knitted my brows, but I didn't say anything in the end.
There must be more to this than he was showing, but it didn't seem like he was going to tell
me.
I'm sure that there would be more to say later, but right now, it just wasn't the place to talk about it. So I didn't say anything else and relaxed my brows as I returned to the dinner in front of us.
Only before I could eat anything.
"Oh, I'm coming too." Puffer suddenly added to this conversation.
I slowly looked at her with a surprised look, but it seemed like she was already moving on
with the way that she turned back to look at Zyra and her family.
"No, no, explain yourself." I had to say this since it wasn't as if I could just bring her along
that easily.
She was different from Ariel.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
A sea witch and not just any sea witch, but one of the Five Great Witches of the Sea.
Someone like that would be considered a VIP even if she didn't have an official status.
But the main thing was the power that she wielded.
Her powerful magic made her akin to a weapon and it wasn't easy to bring a weapon back with
me.
-Only...
"Your place has interesting things, so I want to research them. It's as simple as that." Puffer said without a single care, not even bothering to look at me.
There was something that I wanted to say, but the Merman King tapped me on the shoulder to
stop me.
Seeing the look that he gave me, I knew that it wasn't that simple.
It had to be related to researching the corruption.
So in the end, I had no choice but to agree.
