Warlock of Oceans: My Poseidon System

Chapter 92 The Apostle and General (3)

(Azzaroth POV)

I lightly chuckled at the boy fighting for his life in these hellish elevators, but it seemed he was actually trying his hardest since his face was slowly turning blue.

After letting out a long sigh, I pushed the people in front of us away, just enough for me to grab the boy and carry him in front of me.

"You owe me now…."

"I don't… huff… huff… I don't owe you shit."

I lightly chuckled as the boy began to catch his breath, just as the elevator hit the bottom floor, causing all of us to flood out of the metal box.

I was also getting a bit claustrophobic in there, so I was glad there weren't any pitstops on the way down. If there was, I might have gotten a bit too fidgety.

"Okay, you can put me down now," The boy grumbled but decided to just kick himself out of my grip and land on the floor, slightly stumbling as he tried to not to embarrass himself.

He may have acted like an adult, but in reality, he was just a kid… and it wasn't so bad to look at since he was quite the adorable little thing.

"Maybe working with him won't be so bad…." I muttered, placing my hand on his shoulder and healing his sore back. "That's my bad, kid. I shouldn't have let my emotions get the better of me…."

Instead of a general acting under an apostle, this partnership felt more like a kid being taken under the wing of an adult to act as his parent for a few years.

"It's fine," He swiped the dust off of his school uniform. "Anyways, let's exchange contact information now… and if it's possible, can I see the army today, or are they currently scattered around."

"Unfortunately, they are scattered around as they're on a break. We just had a heavy victory a month ago, so we're taking this time to recover physically and mentally… we lost… a lot of men," I sighed disappointingly since it was mostly just my fault the battle turned out that way.

The boy handed me his phone, and as I put in my contact information, I caught a glimpse of him looking around the building with wide eyes.

"What? Is this your first time being in an office building? Did your parents never have 'bring your child to work' day?"

"If I did have that, I would be dead," He bluntly replied, continuing to look around whilst the chandelier above us slightly swung back and forth.

"Hey-"

CRASH

The boy just barely managed to dodge the chandelier that crashed from the ceiling, clearly intending to kill the boy. In fact, the chandelier almost seemed to be enhanced to fall even faster by some kind of buff.

Quickly, I sensed around me for any lingering mana, and of course, I found some towards the corner of the room.

I didn't immediately turn towards them, but when I went to go warn the boy to get out of here, I noticed he was gone, disappearing into the confused yet intrigued crowd.

"Shit… don't tell me-"

As I turned towards the man with lingering bits of mana floating around him, I also caught a glimpse of the boy who had completely disappeared from under my radar.

I wasn't able to sense him, but I could clearly see him, meaning he must've been some kind of assassin type… or he was just so weak my radar decided not to notice him… honestly, it could have been that.

(Cyrus POV)

As I dashed through the crowd, I made sure to suppress my essence and presence as much as possible, as if erasing my existence from the face of the earth.

Through winding and nimble moves, I was able to make my way through the crowd and explode toward the man who had lingering bits of mana around him.

And seeing how I didn't catch him off guard, it was clear he was the assailant attempting to kill me… how pitiful.

I thought the status was finally gone, but just like that, it reappeared in my face, distracting me for just enough time for the man to reach out and grab my entire face with a single hand.

The white glove slipped over his hands, and his fingers were soft to the touch, but it didn't help the massive slam that nearly caused me to cough up a mouthful of blood all onto the floor.

My head cracked against the hard marble ground, and just as I felt my consciousness begin to fade, a warm light grazed over my face, and I felt completely refreshed.

A silver aura wrapped around a woman with a wolf cut, and as the onlookers began to back away upon noticing the fight about to break out, she ended the skirmish in an instant.

The silver aura around her formed into what could only be described as a treasure trove of weapons that spun and picked up momentum around her, eventually flying towards the cornered man.

There was nowhere to run in this corner of the room, and with various guards coming towards the fight, he had nowhere to escape behind us as well.

"I surrender," He raised his hands. And as I slowly began to get up, still a bit dizzy from the slam, I saw the general reach out her hand toward me.

"Tch… thanks…" I muttered, slapping her hand away and standing up myself.

Goddammit… why did it have to appear then… I could have died because of that.
