Chapter 1140: Section 1141 What is a Transaction
“You came to the Void Tower, so you must know that the Inscriptive Central Hub has already been destroyed,” Komodo looked at Fafnir.
Fafnir responded noncommittally, “So what if it has.”n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“Soon, Lassudral will shatter in the Void. When that time comes, if the fire blockade has not been lifted, all creatures in Lassudral will begin counting down to their doom. You should be well aware of this,” said Komodo, speaking of an extraordinary event with an ordinary tone.
It was like a thunderclap out of the blue, leaving everyone dazed.
Lassudral was about to face an apocalyptic end? Everyone was going to die?! On the floating ice, the group of Wizards all wore expressions of shock and disbelief. The news was too impactful, and nobody had foreseen events turning in this direction.
Just a second before, Angel had said that there were demons in the Void Tower targeting them, intending to exterminate humans with Void shockwaves.
And the next second, they heard the Great Demon say that the Void Tower’s Inscriptive Central Hub had been destroyed and Lassudral was on the countdown to its end.
The gap between the two was too wide, the plot twist beyond everyone’s expectations!
The Wizards couldn’t help but look towards Luci, wanting to get the final confirmation from him.
“Pendulum of Time” Luci, as a Prophet Wizard, had already delved into the contemplation of the Wheel of Time immediately upon hearing Komodo’s alarming statement. Given such sufficient known conditions, figuring out whether this message was true was a lot easier than the proverbial blind man crossing a river.
After a bout of contemplation, Luci seemed to have made a discovery.
His hands moved as if casting illusions, quickly manipulating the twelve hour wheels on his person. As the hands within the wheels turned, one illusion after another appeared behind Luci, beginning to flicker.
Within the illusion, a pupil suddenly opened.
It was an eye that seemed to peer through the Void and the future, archaic and wise, slowly opening and then closing.
The watching Wizards, in the blink of that eye, felt as though they glimpsed the true flow of time.
In that brief instant, like comprehending a lifetime within arm’s reach.
After the Phantom Shadow eye closed, Luci opened his own eyes and spoke out the result word by word, “The end is nigh, darkness descends, Lassudral will dissolve into utter chaos. What Komodo said is true.”
Even if they had been somewhat prepared in their hearts, hearing Luci’s definitive answer still left the Wizards in shock.
At this moment, Monty also said, “I can feel it, the edge of Lassudral has already started to collapse. Before long, the entirety of Lassudral will plummet into the Void.”
Monty’s confirmation cast an even darker shadow over the Wizards’ heads.
Apart from the shadow in their hearts, everyone felt the developments were too eerie.
They had come to Lassudral and had just happened to encounter the arrival of the King, which sounded coincidental but after previously speaking with Angel, they basically understood that Aoluxiya’s visit to the surface was actually to search for this very Night Guest Master.
So, that was that.
But after they arrived in Lassudral, they once again happened to encounter the destruction of the Inscriptive Central Hub, signaling Lassudral’s steps towards its final moments.
This was clearly a targeted event.
Someone must have taken advantage of the moment humans invaded Lassudral to sneak into the Void Tower and commit this act!
Speaking of which, they were being used. This made the Wizards feel quite irate.
Moreover, who had destroyed the Central Hub? And what were their motives? These mysteries also troubled everyone.
The thunderbolt dropped by Komodo shocked not only the humans but also the demons lurking in the shadows, who all showed signs of terror.
However, the demons were most concerned not with who had sabotaged the Central Hub or with seeking the answer to that question, but rather with their personal interests and safety first and foremost.
If Lassudral was going to perish, why bother fighting with the humans? Their own safety was clearly more important!
How to escape the sealed Lassudral became the demons’ primary concern.
Their gazes converged on Komodo, hoping he would disclose a real way out.
Not long after Komodo finished speaking, Fafnir nodded slightly, “And then?”
“You came to the Void Tower, presumably for the Spatial Passage at the tower’s summit, right? It’s an independent transport system, unaffected by the destruction of the Inscriptive Hub. Even if it can’t teleport, using its power to break through the fire blockade will save you a great deal of effort,” Komodo revealed Fafnir’s inner thoughts straightforwardly.
Fafnir continued to nod at Komodo. Although what Komodo said was right, up until now, Fafnir still didn’t understand exactly what Komodo wanted to trade.
Komodo suddenly laughed, “Your idea is not wrong, but you do not understand the Void Tower.”
Komodo continued, “I do not know how the previous intruder managed to sneak into the Void Tower, but it must have been Jupiter who broke the underground seal. Once Jupiter broke the seal, it would have been much easier for the intruder to damage the Central Hub. But this is only the lowest two floors of the Void Tower. With strong enough power, there is indeed a chance to break in.”
“However, the higher the floors of the Void Tower, the more defense mechanisms there are. By the time you reach the top floor, if you do not have our help—oh, that’s not right, considering Jupiter, whose fate is unknown, there are only four of us left. Without the help of us four, it is nearly impossible for you to get in.”
At this point, Komodo’s implication was clear.
“I can take you to the top of the Void Tower, and in exchange, you give him to me. What do you say?” Komodo pointed at Angel.
Fafnir, still without any expression, said, “The Inscriptive Central Hub is damaged. Do you think I would trust you?”
“True, a large number of the defenses in the Void Tower are controlled by inscriptions; but let’s not forget, the founder of the Void Tower was not the Cruel Scholar, who was only invited over, but the true founder was the Abyssal Demon Eye!”
The Cruel Scholar constructed the tower’s inscription system, but there were still many areas in the Void Tower that bore the mark of the Abyssal Demon Eye. According to the rules set by the Abyssal Demon Eye, without the appropriate authority, it would be difficult for Fafnir to reach the top of the tower.
Fafnir fell silent. If what Komodo said was true, then it certainly wouldn’t be easy to use the power of teleportation to leave.
Fafnir’s silence made Angel, standing behind her, also begin to feel uneasy.
Seeing Fafnir’s silence, Komodo knew that she was actually weighing her options. “The choice is quite clear, isn’t it? You surely don’t want to start a battle with me at this time, do you?”
Fafnir was aware that although Komodo’s body had issues, her power had increased significantly. Engaging in a battle with Komodo now would not lead to a quick victory, and would even consume a great deal of her own strength. Moreover, this was still the Void Tower, and Komodo could retreat at any time. Once she used the tower’s teleportation to leave, Fafnir would be powerless to stop her.
If she could avoid battle, Fafnir would prefer not to engage in one.
Fafnir looked at Angel, then back at Komodo, lost in thought.
Angel gulped down his saliva. He didn’t really know what Fafnir was thinking. Although they had spent a short time harmoniously together these days, Angel never believed that Fafnir, in such a short period, would choose to engage in a decisive battle with a powerful entity like Komodo for his sake.
Time passed in silence.
And as time went by, Angel’s heart grew more and more anxious… the feeling of being meat on a chopping block, waiting to be bargained for, made Angel extremely uncomfortable, and a certain thought in his heart underwent changes during this brief span of time.
Meanwhile, above the floating ice, witnessing this scene, Sanders sighed softly.
He too had not expected that just when he was considering the limits of this supreme entity—how far she would go for Angel—the situation would immediately evolve into such a choice.
Sanders silently took off his white glove and placed it in the pocket over his chest.
He adjusted his hat, and in the next second, a short wand appeared in his hand.
Originally, Sanders had planned to respect Angel’s choices, and after this matter was settled, he would look for him in Ice Valley. But now it seemed that plans could not keep up with changes.
Sanders intended to intervene in the battle.
Sanders’s actions were not concealed from others. Monty also noticed Sanders’s decision and did not stop him. Although Monty was fairly confident that he could break through the Void’s blockade without using the teleportation, controlling a great demon would still be advantageous to them.
However, before Sanders could move, a new change occurred below—
Komodo had indeed considered a lot and even believed that there was a high chance Fafnir would opt not to fight, but it had not considered external factors. For instance, even without Fafnir, Angel still had patrons; and furthermore, the situation in the Void Tower was worse than it had imagined.
While Komodo was still confronting Fafnir, a sudden sound interrupted them.
“Komodo, you truly are greedy,” a cold voice said, causing Komodo to frown.
“Yadasai?” Komodo was familiar with this tone of voice. It turned around swiftly, and indeed, it could sense Yadasai’s presence within the Void Tower.
“Though I dislike Urdixinos, I never imagined you would devour them all. Your appetite is indeed large,” said Yadasai. “But unrestrained greed, along with blind confidence, has always only led to sorrowful outcomes.”
Yadasai had previously visited the Misty Cabin and learned some facts from Jia’s mouth. The Trial Trip, as its rules stated, was only effective for the Water System. So even if Komodo truly captured Angel, it would not resolve its own issues.
There was also the fact that Komodo completely neglected to consider: if even the Inscriptive Central Hub was destroyed, why wouldn’t the teleportation be damaged?
The look in Yadasai’s eyes was inscrutable. After all, this was another contender for the Abyssal Demon Eye’s authority… The Unparalleled Great Demon God…
“You intend to oppose me?” Komodo said coldly.
Yadasai replied indifferently, “I merely wish to remind you of something. The teleportation on the top floor of the Void Tower is also problematic.”
