Chapter 398 Death By Violent Beheading.
"Is this some kind of joke to you?" Sol sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "I just offered to free you, why are you limiting my chances of succesz by this much, don't you want to leave here?"
"I do, but I am also hesitant, the world as i know it was destroyed long ago, new people, new cultures, new places, everhting I cherish is gone, I have no interest in the current world." Xie answered.
"If I am able to just have a little company, then that will do just fine, this little system moves of its own will so I see something new every now and then, it is not that bad."
"You're an idiot." Sol deadpanned. "A total jackass,"
"How dare-"
"Listen, I am in the middle of a war against a foe that cannot be defeated without my presence, my family and my people are countingf on me, I won't stay trapped here with you, so I'll use this one opportunity and break free."
Sol leaned forward and took a single step, vanishing and reappearing right before the star, so dlose that his pupils vanished within the gold of his eyes to protect his vision.
"Give me your hand, let's make this deal." He reached out, causing the plastma to separate as the ocean of mana which composed the star was torn open revealing a cmall black box right before him which the light and mana avoided.
"You will regret this," A hand reached through the darkness and locked with Sol's in a shake. "You will fail."
"I will free you in one attempt." Sol stared at the man on the other side of the dark wall. "I don't care who you are or what you did before, you will be free of this place, you will return with me, you will be my sword, do you understand?"
"Then let us see your one attempt." The man chuckled from the darkness of the box while his grey mana seeped outside and locked with Sol's golden mana, intertwining as their mana danced around their hands and formed a seal on their forearms.
"The seal has been completed." Sol nodded, releasing the hand and placing his palm on the large box again.
"How do you intend to break this barrier that not even I could?" Xie asked, and Sol began chuckling as he stared at the black box.
"Break? Who said anything about breaking it?" Sol began tapping the box, gaining momentum and force with each tap.
"You are far stronger than I am, there's no way in hell I was gonna break this monstrosity of a prison with brute strength, it's a guaranteed failure if I did that you prick."
"Prick?" The man asked. "Is that a new insult?"
"Figure it out when you're free," Sol rested his hands against the black barrier and began absorbing the mana that composed it.
"You do not have the capacity to absorb this, you will ultimately fail, you are not the first to try." He was warned, but Sol, desperate to make this work any way he could resorted to his unique cheat, inside of him there sat an entire collective that sprung new universes every few days, galaxies by the minute, entire realities were being forged and birthed inside of him.
"I do have the capacity, the whole reason I am alive right now is because I have the capacity!" Sol corrected him, remembering that the last time he was awake at the edge of Drifting Heaven it was his absorption of the attack from Zhang that had ultimately saved his life.
Rather than directly absorb the chaotic and foreign mana that comprised the barrier, Sol began rapidly transferring it towards the closest new forge, an explosion in its infancy, an empty space with a nigh limitless void at the core.
He stayed there silently for almost twelve hours, draining mana many times more than he had ever possessed, killing several new branches inside of his collective in the process while the one branch that had initially been fed the mana rapidly grew, expanding to the size of Origin and then beyond that, causing an imbalance within him as Origin being the core of his collective needed to always remain the largest.
"How are you doing this?" Xie asked, resting his hand on the barrier and seeing cracks of white caused by Sol's mana as it had shrunken and thinned. "Not even I have been able to, it replenishes itself constantly; instantly, how could you possibly drain this seal faster than it can feed mana into itself?" He slammed his fist against the barrier, seeing more white cracks race across the surface.
"My name is Sol Vestic, Xie, and you will do good to remember that there is nothing that is impossible for me, I may not be capable of a lot, but the success of this endeavour was always guaranteed!" Sol grit his teeth, finally seeing the end of the barrier's life.
"I just needed it to expend more power than it was eating!" Sol felt his hand sink into the membrane of the barrier as it started becoming liquid, trying to defend against his attempts at killing it, but this too was a useless failsafe when Sol opened his mouth and bit into the soft mana wall, tearing it off and swallowing it.
"Huh..." Sol hummed. "It isn't that bad!" He grinned and bit into another stray tendril of the barrier that began sliding up his arm.
"In all the years of my existence, I have never seen anyone do anything as crazy..." The man on the inside grasped on to the sift barrier around him and tore a piece of it out, sticking it into his mouth and them grabbing his throat and spitting it back out. "You, Sol Vestic, you are a madman!" He exclaimed.
The barrier was so rich in mana that it burned his thriat when he tried to absoeb it, yet this man before him was actively eating it as casually as a child ate snacks.
"Gluttony." Sol closed his eyes, using a skill had had not since his days on Arkadia.
He opened his mouth over the next stretch of defense the barrier tried mounting against him and then dived facefirst into it.
On the inside the man waited silently, watching in shock and awe as Sol began devouring the barrier itself, within the next hour he was standing on a small platform with Sol before him panting and holding his mouth as the last of the barrier was slurped and swallowed like noodles, broken down into mana and thrown into a massive universe that had tilted the divine tree itself, almost breaking it from the gravitational weight it alone had.
"You did it... you freed me."
"As I said I would," Sol answered, holding his throat and then releasing a large cloud of mana away from them, covering the Star in a manner of seconds in it. "You will have to keep your word now, if you deviate from our mana pact you will-"
He was in the middle of speaking to the man while he turned, but went silent when he found the man directly before him less than a foot away staring at him with his eyes wide and unblinking. "You..." The man mumbled.
He had long brown hair nearly twice the length of his body flowing behind him weightlessly, but aside from that one fact there was nothing about him that hinted at him being trapped inside of a barrier for any longer than a few days to a week.
His face was smooth and hairless, and his clothes were all in pristine condition, his eyes were a light almost sky blue, and he was wearing a black armour-plated Long Pao(Traditional Robes), completed with a small crown on his head and the crest of a bird on his right shoulder, and the small tattoo of a dragon on his neck circling all the way around and biting its tail.
"What do you intend to do?" Sol asked, he would have shown hesitance, bur he already knew that the man was not going to harm him, unless he wanted to die as well.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"You freed me," Xie stared at him in awe. "You tricked me into the deal knowing that you would be able to succeed from the start!" He smiled grabbing Sol's hand and shaking it like a child.
"You're not mad?"
"Mad, are you insane man?" Xie began laughing. "I have been trapped in there timelessly, I stopped counting the stars born and the stars decayed, entire species and cultures have come and gone extinct here when the star was once as gold as your head, i could never be mad at the man that freed me!" He released Sol's hand and backed away to the platform once more, dropping on one knee and grinning.
"I Xie Tsung, the Raven, swear my undying loyalty to you, Master Sol Vestic, you have shown me potential like none I have ever seen before, done in a day what I have failed to do in aeons, I wish to follow you to the ends of time and witness your rise to the peak."
"The peak, huh?" Sol asked, smiling as he reached for Xie's hand and pulled him to stand. "We can speak more on that later, I have to find Jena and the others right now." He looked beyond the system while Sol began extending his senses.
But the moment Xie waved his hands and the Veil that had been blocking Sol's senses went down, the Godslayer's mana exploded, consuming the entire system and flooding across to neighbouring systems, destroying everything while he clenched his teeth with his eyes wide in disbelief as a flood of information appeared across several windows before him.
