Chapter 2559: Hours
Chapter 2559: Hours
Her first instinct was to protest.
But, her professionalism and dignity as the ruler of the empire stopped her.
She understood the rationale.
The higher the position of the person that formed a permanent bond with Dawnbringer, the greater the benefit that could be extracted. As a powerful Martial Master and the queen of a Master-level powerhouse, she had a voice that could not be suppressed or taken to the other side. The Kandrian Empire would have no choice but to acknowledge the powerful bond with the Kingdom Ucrea.
There was no better choice.
"I... am not equipped with relevant proficiency in this particular niche field of operations." She tried her best to paint the picture of her inexperience as professionally as possible.
"We believe that this may very well be a plus, Your Majesty," Director Miliania clinically stated. "We have looked into the profiles of the partners of the Dawnbringer, and it is rather clear that he dislikes disingenuity. Our analysis reveals that a candid and direct approach may very well yield a good result."
Queen Carme heaved a deep breath.
"Very well."
Director Milliania nodded with a hint of relief. She was afraid that the queen would let her personal sensibilities impede her commitment to do any and everything the nation needed of her. In times of emergency amid an apocalypse that would wipe out all of human civilization, there was no room for personal feelings. A ruler ought to do everything that was necessary to keep a nation.
Soon enough, the meeting came to an end as Queen Carme prepared herself for undertaking her new operation. Thankfully, the timing wasn't poor, even if it wasn't optimal. She was confident that she would conceive at this point in time.
She had a long and extravagant bath, preparing herself for the eventual moment. She even applied skincare products that were usually reserved for important occasions. She donned a sheer, one-piece attire that didn't leave much to the imagination.
And soon enough, it was time.
CLACK
The door to his luxury room opened as she slowly walked towards the bed that he rested on. The door to his luxury room opened as she slowly walked towards the bed that he laid in, slowly slipping in, drawing closer to his naked upper body.
He was warm.
Comfortably warm.
He was deep asleep.
Martial Masters were vulnerable when they were recovering from the after-effects of the Martial Mind. It was why Rui didn't want to sleep in a cloud in dangerous areas. If he was found by the monsters and beasts, he would die without being able to resist.
Her heartbeat grew faster as she felt her nerves tingle with the gravity of what she was doing.
Her nerves sparked as he turned in his sleep, wrapping his body around hers. She could feel his heavy heartbeats through her chest, only increasing her heart rate.
Nervousness turned into excitement, much to her own disbelief. She expected herself to be able to fulfill her mission clinically and coldly.
She had overestimated how impassive and apathetic she was capable of being under such circumstances.
"I didn't think you'd be this bold."
A shiver crawled down her spine as his whisper reached her ear.
"Sheesh, maybe resting amid humans is more dangerous than it is amid beasts," he murmured. "I should have brought a codpiece along with me."
She turned up to meet his piercing gaze. "Prince Rui..."
She gazed deep into eyes. "...I implore you to indulge yourself."
He studied her for a moment. "I can't enjoy sleeping with a person who doesn't want to be slept with. So let me ask you, how do you feel?"
Her heart rate was high.
Her nerves tingled.
Her cheeks were flushed.
Her breathing was heavy.
Rui smiled mischievously. "Never mind, don't answer that."
What followed would have made Master Zeamer proud.
RUMBLE...
The ground shook as a vigorous clapping sound and feminine moans emerged from Rui's luxury suite. The Director Milliana heaved a sigh of relief in her office as she read through the rapid intel updates that detailed the state of the operations.
It appeared that this operation wasn't even as unpleasant to the queen as she had made it seem when they had discussed it.
Regardless, with this, the long-term survival and health of the Kingdom of Ucrea was much less likely to be undermined. The kingdom could most likely use this to gain greater favor from the Kandrian Empire and even potentially become an ally to the most powerful force in the Human Domain.
That was how much power the Dawnbringer possessed within the Kandrian Empire. Only the Emperor of Harmony would be a more desirable target politically. They would be able to use this to secure greater gains and concessions from the Kandrian Empire than would otherwise
be possible.
The session lasted longer than they had expected. By the time the noise stopped, hours had passed.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Huff..." Rui heaved a sigh of satisfied relief as he put his Martial attire back on while the exhausted queen lay in bed, panting heavily. His mind had already moved on to more important matters with the newfound clarity and objectivity that he had just gained. He thought about how he ought not to waste too much time in each nation that served as a pitstop to let him rest as he navigated through the Beast-ridden Human Domain.
"I will break as many Martial Artists through to higher Realms as I can," he informed her. "And also embed the Hellbringer model in your minds hypnotically as soon as possible. After that, I will depart for my next destination."
He intended to make a few stops in between to ensure that he recuperated from any Martial Mind and Heart exertion, but after that it was about time that he hit his first target among the thirteen powerhouses that he needed to visit. He especially needed to make the Sekigahara Confederate strong enough to deal with the Beast Incursion without their Sages, otherwise they would not partake in the solution to the quasi-Sage-level beasts that his father had proposed in the Human Summit.
It would undermine the entire mission.
