Chapter 1320 Focus On Me
Adhara felt like her entire body was brimming with a newfound power.
She didn't know where it came from, it suddenly came to her.
But she knew that power did not come to her on its own, there was no concept of luck, in the race to the top if one didn't seek for it. She understands that this is one of the perks of being under Rex.
One happened earlier when she was forced to sleep and the other one was seconds ago.
It was obvious that Rex did something and she wanted to test her current power level.
Glancing at her from the side, Rex recalled something.
System, I asked Meloriana to give the others a King Mark. Where is it?
<Notice: Meloriana played the user's words>
Huh? What do you mean?
<Since the user asked her for her 'blessing', she gave the others an ability instead>
Damn wench, she did what?!
A vein bulged—on Rex's forehead when he read the notification, he did say to Meloriana that she would need to give the others her blessing but she twisted that word by giving an ability as opposed to her King Mark.
Rex wanted to shout but he gulped it down.
I know the others couldn't gain a King Mark other than their birth moon but I was hoping the intervention of a divine being could bypass that restriction, and I'm sure Meloriana, could do that but she played games with me.
Even though the others couldn't hold more than one King Mark, he was hoping they could.
However, he was tricked with a simple display from Meloriana.
Circulating his breathing to calm himself down, he exhaled roughly and stared at Adhara.
So, what is the ability the others gain?
<Notice: It's the Minor Nectar Blood, a lesser version of the user's Nectar Blood>
Upon reading this, Rex quickly grabbed Adhara's shoulder.
"Change of plans, I'm taking the first fucking wave!" He said, blasting himself ahead.
Adhara was at a loss for words, "Why is he suddenly angry?"
Knowing that his mind would explode from anger at what Meloriana did, Rex needs to vent it all out, before he goes insane. Such a chance wouldn't come by often, and he failed to really capitalize on it.
Swoosh!
Focusing ahead, Rex squinted his eyes.
"Woah~ So many of them, it looks like a storm is coming" He muttered in awe.
On the horizon ahead were the flying mutated animals, most of them were birds with several insects in their midst. Because of the Second Breath settling—all are in the ninth-rank realm, with the weakest at the early and the highest at the peak.
It was such a sight to see so many mutated animals this strong at once.
Rex has never seen a pair of ninth-rank realm mutated animals at once much less this.
Even then, this only increased his appetite.
Maybe I don't need to wait for Kyran's hunt, I'll give it a try on them.
Nodding his head, he activated his Lunar gladiator form, turning him into a jester with wings.
Amanir still hasn't changed the appearance of the gladiator form—it was still unclear whether he could even do that but this form could summon wings so it was perfect to battle a flock of flying mutated animals.
Fortunately, his entire body was covered by the new cloak so he wouldn't look ridiculous.
Swoosh!
Piercing ahead, Rex coated his hands with red force and made a cleaving motion.
He fired a crescent-shaped energy slash straight at the flock.
In retaliation, many of the mutated animals used their abilities to confront against the energy slash but all of them were utterly destroyed, sliced into two pieces—without even being able to slow down the slash.
Rex had trained his red force, it has gotten stronger now than before.
<Killed an early ninth-rank realm mutated animal, obtained 1 billion exp!>
<Killed a mid-ninth-rank realm mutated animal, obtained 3,5 billion exp!>
<Killed...>
Dozens of notifications appeared, prompting him to his kills as the energy slash continued.
Feeling no satisfaction from using long-range attacks, Rex decided to go into melee.
Using the new Honeyed Claws skill, golden claws extended from his fingers—elongating and enveloping them in a radiant sheen of sharp, honey-tinted energy. It siphoned his new kingly energy, the Honey Moon kingly energy.
Even though it was still foreign, Rex could still somewhat control it expertly.
It was because of the nature of the kingly energy.
Compared to the Blood Moon and also the Banished Dark Moon kingly energy, this one was way softer and amicable to control. It doesn't have the ferocity of the Blood Moon, and also no coldness of the Banished Dark Moon.
Rex was quite fond of this sensation and praised Meloriana for giving him this power.
"Kraarggh!!"
Blasting into the flock of thousands, Rex unleashed a battle cry and turned into a beam.
He went straight against the flock, hacking everything in sight.
Changing his direction mid-way, he made a turn and curve, taking down numbers in a full-on slaughterhouse. Most of the mutated animals that met with his claws got torn apart, and the ones who survived screeched in pain.
But the screeches didn't last long as their bodies stiffened, halting their wings from flapping.
No matter how much they tried, they couldn't move their wings and began free-falling.
His slaughter rained blood to the ground below.
Grabbing a mutated bird, Rex opened his mouth and bit down on its wing, tearing flesh.
Savoring the taste, he gulped it down through his throat.
<Consumed a portion of a mid-ninth-rank real mutated animal, obtained 500 million exp!>
Just like I thought, consuming others gave me exp.
Not wanting to become a feral animal, Rex restrained himself from eating flesh but now that his fasting streak was broken, there was no need to hold back anymore. Especially, with the situation he has with Evelyn.
He decided to go all-out in becoming stronger no matter the path.
As he continued his slaughter, a mutated animal, a massive crow bit his shoulder.
Rex glanced at it and raised an eyebrow.
He didn't feel a single thing, the beak was not strong enough to cause anything to him.
It was all thanks to the Royal Black Cloak and its immense defensive property.
"Snap out of it, you're not a match for me," Rex mused in amusement.
Making a smooth motion, Rex grabbed his cloak and wrapped it around the crow's beak.
Seeing this, the mutated crow tried to break free but its eyes widened suddenly.
Rex used the Royal Might's ability of the cloak to change its density, from light as a feather to the heaviest object, the mutated crow has ever tried to carry. It was very heavy—to the point that the mutated crow was plunged onto the ground like a meteor instantly.
Crash!
Looking down, Rex was amazed by what had happened.
He saw the mutated crow's head was completely mushed because of the cloak.
"So it could grow that heavy, huh... nice" Rex nodded.
Realizing that all of them could not even scratch Rex, the mutated animals broke free—from their trance and surrounded him from all sides. Even though they were merely animals, they were fully aware of their survival instincts.
Looking at this, Rex smirked, "Come on then, attack me if you dare!"
Just as he said that his eyes darted to his behind.
He heard the ferocious sound of a thousand flapping wings coming from below, and when he turned he saw a convoy of mutated starlings led by the Alpha of the starlings ignoring him as if he was a plague and headed straight to the city.
"Adhara, it's your turn!" Rex signaled, she would deal with those that managed to pass him.
Refocusing on the mutated animals around him, Rex's eyes narrowed.
Since I'm fighting them, I might as well train too. I'll increase the Primordial Step's mastery.
As Rex returned to his battle, Adhara prepared for hers.
Checking on Rex who was busy in his battle, Adhara bit her lower lip in annoyance.
"I told him to watch me and yet he ignored me completely"
Deciding that she would definitely make Rex focus on her, Adhara's body slowly transformed into her Werewolf form, blaring the full display—of the Anti-Werewolf bloodline. She kept her focus on the flock of starlings as her eyes grew colder and colder.
Pssh...
In a spectacular fashion, her pristine white energy began seeping out of her body.
Like smoke, it floated and circled around Adhara.
Just then, the moonlight from above began shifting its attention towards her, as if the moon was giving her the spotlight of the world. With a powerful grunt—her energy shot to the sky and broke into an expanding ring.
Her furs fluttered gracefully before a chant escaped her lips.
"Moonlight Reversal..."
A cold wind swept through the area upon her voice, biting at the skin like frost.
Above, the moon flickered unnaturally, as if an invisible hand toyed with its radiant light.
It blinked on and off several times before settling but something was different.
Compared to before, the pale glow it once bathed the world in had shifted, darkening into an eerie blend of black and deep silver. Suddenly, a haunting wail echoed across the sky, as the flock of starlings, once charging with power, convulsed mid-air.
All of them cried, creating a piercing requiem that pierced the night as their wings faltered.
In an eerie union, their bodies began to steam under the ominous moonlight.
Each of their form wilted like a scorched leaf and they plummeted helplessly to the ground.
Adhara watched them fall, her eyes reflecting with a twisted moonlight.
Naturally, this was her new power gained from the Pack Blessing from the System.
It was called Moonlight Reversal.
A powerful skill that could turn the very energy of the night into a weapon, transforming the moon's blessing, into a curse. The once-nurturing beams now weakened any enemy caught within its reach, burning away their strength and turning their advantages against them.
For Werewolves, the effect was devastating.
What should have empowered them, now sapped their strength, leaving them exposed.
Akin to a Vampire standing under the harsh daylight.
Because of that, Rex felt it immediately.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
<Notice: the user has been inflicted by the Moonlight Reversal!>
<Sovereign of the Night's skill effect has been annulled>
Rex's eyes widened when he saw this, it felt the same as when the Fifthborn severed his own connection with the moonlight. But, as opposed to his connection being severed, it was more like the entire area's moonlight was changed to a bane.
Not stopping at that, his Lunar mana was also snuffed out.
He lost his gladiator form and fell to the ground.
Crashing onto the ground, Rex landed on his feet, strength leeching away from his body.
Soon, he dropped to one knee, struggling to rise.
Rex felt the familiar power from the moon had evaporated, replaced by a painful emptiness.
Gritting his teeth, he raised his gaze when a figure landed right in front of him.
It was Adhara, and she stood tall with one eyebrow raised.
"Are you going to focus on me now? I wanted to show you but you're too busy fighting"
"Okay, okay! You have my undivided attention, exempt me from your skill now!"
"Say please?"
"Really? Are you going to be this childish?"
"I said say please"
"Okay, please exempt me from your skill"
"It doesn't hurt to listen once in a while. Since there's no tenth rank, I'll handle this"
Upon being exempted, Rex regained back his power.
He could probably overpower Adhara's new skill if he turned into his Werewolf form but then again, her skill was so strong to strip him from his power like that. Since her bloodline was in the direct lineage of the White Omicron, this was expected.
For any Werewolves, Adhara is their nightmare.
"Go ahead, I'll watch you fight as you want," Rex climbed back to his feet and sighed.
As Adhara said, with no tenth-rank mutated animals around, he didn't need to meddle.
Nodding her head, she blasted skywards, continuing the battle.
