The Dreamer's POV

Chapter 224 Traitor's Demise

Sarah and those she came with were heckled out of the mansion she had watched Theo grow in, it was the ultimate humiliation but she chose to swallow the terrible feeling down her throat and move along, she had no choice. That man Luke was dangerous and unpredictable, she had a feeling that he could have chosen to slaughter them in the room and have no care about the deed, but he simply just didn't.

'Theo, Luke and you Drius.' You've picked the wrong enemies.

Margarette and Fiona busied themselves with scolding Drius, telling him of how a stranger like Luke had managed to sow a seed of dispute between them. The man didn't engage them, he cared not for their words.

'What could have Drius and Theo change so much? Just how did he get involved in all this?' and then, in the middle of her thoughts, she saw her men burst out of the door and running towards her, terrified out of their skins, and behind them hovered a rock with a glowing blue energy to it, crackling.

And then, at the door stood him, hands crossed and eyes held up high and directed at them, hiding the malice he felt towards them.

Sarah quickly looked away, she didn't want to meet his gaze. She was a little relieved that he and Drius didn't kill her guards, though embarrassing, it would make travelling back much easier.

Soon, they were all packed in their carriages. In the carriage Sarah sat in, the gloom she exuded was palpable, with her head bowed, she racked her head about the next course of action.

She saw Drius by the carriage side waiting for them to leave, and her brows furrowed in anger,

'Fucking traitor.'

As if Fiona caught on, she spoke,

"Fucking dog shit. He'll pay, they'll pay, right mother?"

Sarah couldn't answer her daughter's question, she needed to cool her head, and she ignored her.

Shortly, the carriage began moving.

Soon as it did, a carpet of shadow rose from my feet vertically,

"My lord."

"Watch them, make sure they leave the city, and if they don't, kill them."

"As you command master." Black said with that sly voice it had and then sank into the ground, doing my bidding.

Outside the Lyma capital, in the midst of rodents and rustling bushes did the estranged Lyma nobles camp. Sarah was pacing back and forth, her long dress brushing against the soil and getting dirty.

Margarette sat on the foot of the carriage watching her mother so agitated, the proper noble lady in her wanted to inform her mother that she was soiling her dress, but she knew that now wasn't the time.

"We will camp here my lady, it looks safe enough." One of the guards said to Margarette, bowing as he did and soon left.

Fiona was still in her carriage, and Margarette was worried about what occurred with her sister, what had made her so afraid? Nobody had bothered to tell her, and she felt that asking would only make things worse.

Sarah stopped her back and forth movement and then approached Margarette,

"We will camp here, and move tommorow." she declared, and Margarette simply nodded.

In a few hours time, when the night had become denser with its darkness, Sarah got up from where she slept and walked forward from the sleeping group.

The moon provided a little bit of illumination, and the Lyma were blessed with great eyesight.

She brought out a red flat and circular magic item and placed it on her hand, whispering into it.

"Lord Gloria, Lord Gloria." She called multiple times, until a response.

"Yes Sarah, you better have good news to tell, I'm not so keen on having my beauty sleep interrupted."

"Hmmm Hmmm…" she cleared her throat.

"There may have been some minor setbacks, complications that will delay our plan, I'm not sure, but can you wait a little longer, with just a little bit of time, I'm sure I can regain control, you know me for that, don't you my lord?"

"Honestly Sarah, I don't. I'm beginning to greatly doubt you. I don't want to invest in something so volatile anymore, and I think you're getting too old, you're not cut out for this anymore, I can't believe you had a boy outsmart you, perhaps you're not as you say you are."

"No, please Lord Gloria, there's another, and he's dangerous, he is the one…"

"Enough Sarah, I'm tired of your excuses, our deal is off, there will always be another with you."

And then instantly the voice stopped, Lord Gloria had left, and Sarah's rage only sizzled.

She walked back to her camp when she heard a noise that stopped her steps.

"Huh." A large lizard with wings was feasting on the head of a soldier, and when her eyes adjusted to the sight before her, she lost her balance and fell.

Bodies laid across the area, Her daughters and grandchildren, they were dead and bloodied.

Who had done this? How did the dragon get there?

"A little shocked are we?"

She froze, she knew that voice, and she found herself glued on the spot.

It was the butler? What was he here to do? Was he going to save her from this horrible monster?

Though the last part was a little far fetched considering how they parted, but she didn't want to think that Like was somehow responsible for all this.

"You…" She managed to speak.

"Yes me, Unfortunately, I don't like to keep loose ends, and I fear that you lot are only loose ends that will complicate things, I didn't want to do it considering Theo and Drius but out here, I'll do whatever I like, and unfortunately Sarah, you too have to die." Luke declared like he just made a proclamation.

Sarah felt despair like none other at that time. When she was younger, her maidservants would tell her stories of knights that would sweep in to save the princess in dire moments, and she hoped for such a white knight.

However, before anything of substance could occur, the dragon barred its jaws on her head and crushed it with a bite.

Squelch!
