Chapter 174 Finn's Spear
At the wall, the once chaotic battle was slowly quieting. Soldiers and mages, worn and battered, were no longer focused on their immediate fights. Their attention was drawn further ahead, where the real spectacle unfolded.
"Is that…" Evelina began, her voice trailing off as her sharp eyes caught sight of a familiar figure moving within the misty battlefield.
"Jett! It's Jett!" Freya exclaimed, her excitement slipping out before she realized it.
The group turned their attention to the scene ahead, watching Jett wreak havoc across the battlefield. He moved with precision and ferocity, taking down soldiers left and right. Each motion was calculated, yet it was clear he was being pushed to his limits. His attacks, though devastating, were growing more defensive.
"We need to help," Elora urged, her tone serious. "He doesn't even have a weapon. And we still need to get the queen out of there."
"Yeah, he's holding back just so he can protect the queen," Freya added, worry creeping into her voice.
"Don't worry," Rey interjected, pulling a sword from his storage ring with a grin. "I've got his sword. Picked it up on my way here."
"That's the one he got from his dad, right?" Freya asked.
"I don't think he'll need it," Finn said, crossing his arms with a knowing look. "Jett's already got an arsenal, even if he hardly ever uses it."
"What are you even talking about?" Rey demanded, narrowing his eyes.
"You've got those annoying eyes that can see through things, don't you?" Finn replied, gesturing toward the fog. "Take a look inside."
Rey frowned but did as Finn suggested. His sharp gaze pierced the veil of steam and mist, and there it was, Jett wielding a sword in the thick fog.
"Huh. He really doesn't need it," Rey muttered, slipping the weapon back into his storage ring.
Before anyone could respond, a sudden tremor rippled through the battlefield. A massive armored figure emerged, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground. The man raised his colossal hands and clapped them together with an explosive force.
The fog was obliterated in an instant, revealing the carnage beneath. Jett, now fully exposed, stood amidst the fallen soldiers. His stance was tense, his eyes locked on the towering man before him.
"Jett's in trouble," Rey warned, his tone serious.
"That guy looks really strong," Matthew commented, though there was a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
"And probably fun to fight, too," Seraphina added, her enthusiasm evident. Without waiting, she grabbed Matthew's arm and leapt over the wall.
"Wait for us!" Freya called out, but Seraphina and Matthew were already charging ahead, eager to join the fray.
"What are you guys doing?! Are you trying to get yourselves killed?! And you Freya, you're not going anywhere." Rosa yelled, her voice sharp with panic, as she watched Seraphina and Matthew leap from the incredible height of the wall while Freya sulked.
"You don't need to worry about us!" Matthew called back, the wind whipping through his hair as they plummeted toward the ground.
As they neared the surface, Matthew tightened his hold on Seraphina and called Iron.
In an instant, the massive Ironback Bear materialized below them, its gleaming, impenetrable skin catching the light. The duo landed squarely on its broad back as if it were a platform. With a powerful roar, the bear began racing down the wall, its claws digging into the stone, allowing it to descend with ease.
By the time they reached the ground, Seraphina looked back at the others on the wall and called out playfully, "See? No problem at all!"
"You really should stop worrying so much," Marcella sighed, glancing at Rosa, who was still clutching the wall in disbelief.
Meanwhile, back at the top of the wall, Finn brought out his spear, holding it as if he were taking aim at a distant target. The weapon gleamed, its intricate design pulsing faintly with magic.
"He's going to need something that actually packs a punch," Finn muttered, grinning because of what he was about to do.
Rey, catching sight of Finn's actions, felt his frustration boil over. "What the hell are you trying to do from here?"
"I'm giving Jett my spear," Finn replied confidently. "It's much stronger than anything he's got right now."
Rey gawked at him. "You moron! Did you casually forget that no one else can even pick up your spear? We've all tried it, haven't we? Even Elora and Aiden's weapons, they're just as exclusive as yours!"
"It's true," Elora added, her gaze sharp. "If you're just trying to attack the soldiers, that's one thing. But giving it to Jett? That's not going to work."
Aiden crossed his arms, shaking his head. "Stop playing around, Finn. They were specially made for us. No one else can use them."
Finn's smile widened, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he adjusted his stance, still aiming his spear.
"Hey, you guys," he said, his voice brimming with confidence, "I'm about to blow your minds."
Finn tightened his grip on the spear, the intricate engravings along its shaft glowing faintly as he summoned all his strength. With a deep breath, he planted his foot firmly on the wall.
"[Meteor Throw]!" he roared, hurling the spear with everything he had.
The weapon tore through the air like a comet, its blazing trajectory leaving a faint golden streak in its wake. "JETT!" Finn shouted, his voice booming across the battlefield.
Jett, mid-combat, turned at the sound of his name. His sharp eyes caught sight of the fast-approaching projectile. For a split second, confusion flashed across his face, followed by recognition. "What the hell…" he muttered.
"CATCH!" Finn's voice cut through the chaos, and despite himself, Jett couldn't help but smirk.
The spear rocketed forward, passing Seraphina and Matthew in a blur. The sheer force of its passage kicked up a whirlwind of dust and debris, leaving the two momentarily stunned as they watched it zoom by.
"It's not slowing down!" Seraphina shouted, shielding her face from the dust.
The hulking, herculean soldier near Jett noticed his distraction and seized the opportunity. His massive frame loomed over Jett as he sneered, "Never show your enemy your back."
Jett sidestepped slightly, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "So you can speak after all," he said mockingly, stepping back cautiously.
The spear, now mere moments from impact, seemed to tear through the very air. Its unyielding path radiated a sense of unstoppable power.
"DODGE!!!" Rey and the others screamed from atop the wall, panic clear in their voices. To them, it looked as if the spear would impale Jett without mercy.
But Jett didn't flinch. As the hulking soldier lunged at him, his massive fist descending like a hammer, Jett moved with fluid precision.
[Hammer Fist] the soldier roared, his attack aiming to crush Jett where he stood. Stay updated with empire
At the last moment, Jett backflipped with effortless grace, narrowly avoiding the devastating blow. As he flipped, his hand shot out, catching the spear mid-flight with perfect timing.
Using the immense momentum of the weapon, Jett spun, channeling the spear's power into a counterattack. The sheer force sent the herculean soldier hurtling backward like a ragdoll, crashing into the ground with a thunderous impact that sent shockwaves through the battlefield.
As the dust settled, Jett turned to Matthew and smirked. "He's all yours."
Matthew grinned, cracking his knuckles. "With pleasure."
Above, the group stood in stunned silence. Finn leaned casually against the wall, a smug grin plastered across his face.
"That's Finn's Midas Spear…" Elora finally managed to say, her tone filled with disbelief.
"No one else is supposed to be able to use it," Aiden added, his brow furrowed in confusion.
Rey stared wide-eyed at the battlefield. "How the hell is he holding it?"
No one had an answer, but one thing was clear, Jett had done the impossible yet again.
