Chapter 434 433: Forsaken and Cursed City of The Old Ones
434 433: Forsaken and Cursed City of The Old Ones
As Corey stared at the figure that was completely covered in silver armor and helmet, the first thing that caught his attention was the faintly glowing runes on the silver armor.
He glanced at the runes with a tinge of interest, and he noticed that some of the runes were similar to the runes on the massive chain they climbed on.
Corey shifted his gaze from the runes to the figure. Although he had no idea whether the armored figure was male or female, he did not feel an ounce of pressure from the figure.
From what he could perceive, the figure was as strong as a tier 4.
'He or she should be as strong as Selene… Or maybe Selene is stronger… Or maybe the figure is stronger.'
Corey suddenly came to a sudden realization as he observed the figure.
The figure was not staring at him, but at Selene who was beside him. In fact, if Corey was not wrong, the figure barely gave him a glance.
The figure was outright ignoring him!
Corey did not know why, but he had a slightly stunned expression when he realized this.
'When was the last time I was ignored like this? Even tier 4s in the Underworld don't ignore me or underestimate him… What a strange feeling.'
Despite the thoughts that went through his mind, Corey's expression returned to one of indifference.
"Who are you? Why are you here? And how did you, Outsiders, get here?"
Approximately seven seconds later, the figure finally spoke, and from the voice, he knew that the figure was a male.
However, what the figure did not expect was that even after asking these questions, the figure would be met with silence.
Because of this, a slightly comedic scene took place.
Selene who was fully expecting Corey to respond kept on waiting for him to respond, but even after a whole ten seconds, Corey did not respond and she took a glance at him.
She was taken aback when she saw Corey staring at her with a flat expression, and she was confused.
"What?" She asked.
"He asked you a question." Corey flatly responded, and Selene pointed at herself with widened eyes.
"What? Me?"
Corey nodded, and she glanced at the silver-armored figure. She could sense the irritation emanating from the figure with ease.
She shifted her gaze back to Corey.
"But-"
Corey quickly cut her off with a nonchalant shrug, "He was asking you a question. I think you should give him a reply before he gets pissed off the more."
Selene opened and closed her mouth multiple times, and a thought could not help but come to her mind.
'Why are you making it seem like I'm purposely ignoring him? Aren't you my Master?'
Selene restrained herself from talking and looked at the armored figure. She scratched the side of her head with a slightly embarrassed expression.
"So, uhm… What were the questions you asked?"
Corey felt the immense urge to facepalm, and he used everything he had to stop himself from doing so.
Meanwhile, the silver-armored figure stood still for a good solid ten seconds, and then he slowly spoke.
"Are you taking me for a joke?"
Selene could sense the anger emanating from the silver-armored figure, and she knew that she had fucked up.
'Well, this is bad… What am I meant to do? Apologize? But I did nothing wrong.'
Just as Selene was thinking about what to do, Corey's voice resounded in her mind.
[Who are you? Why are you here? And how did you, Outsiders, get here?]
Selene was taken aback for a second, and then she quickly spoke.
"So, my name is Selene. We came here because we needed a safe place to stay and sleep. Also… we ran and used monsters as mounts."
Selene could not care if her response would seem disrespectful to the silver-armored figure. If the silver-armored figure took offense and decided to attack them, she would put everything on Corey.
The silver-armored figure remained silent for some seconds, and then he spoke.
"Where did you appear when you arrived in our world?"
Selene's eyes flickered, and she could not help but mumble softly, "I guess that's why you called us Outsiders."
Without waiting for the silver-armored figure to respond, she continued speaking.
"I appeared in a place filled with mountains and goat-like monsters."
"The Morphing Expanse!"
The silver-armored figure exclaimed with visible shock and a tinge of fear in his voice. Corey noticed the silver-armored figure tremble slightly.
'So that region is called The Morphing Expanse.' Corey thought with slight intrigue. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"You don't know how lucky you are to have come out of The Morphing Expanse alive. From your description, I'm guessing you got out of The Morphing Expanse before it changed to its most dangerous state… The Flooded Desert of Madness."
The silver armored figure trembled slightly once again, and Selene's expression became quite strange.
Although she could understand the reason for his reaction, they had survived The Flooded Desert of Madness.
"You're also lucky to have survived an encounter with the Capra Feroxes. It's either you didn't encounter a rather large herd or you encountered a calm and mature herd."
Selene remained quiet, and the Capra King's image flashed in her eyes. She shuddered slightly.
After a few seconds, the silver-armored figure released a soft sigh, and then he gestured towards the city.
"You may enter, but make sure you register yourselves in the City Hall or there'd be severe consequences."
The silver-armored figure spoke with an extremely cold tone that evoked no single reaction from either Corey or Selene.
Selene only nodded, and after thinking about it, she decided to speak. She didn't want to appear too arrogant and disrespectful to the first inhabitant of the shattered dimension they had encountered.
"We understand… But how do we know where the City Hall is, "
Selene asked, and the silver armored guard flicked his right hand. An object came flying towards Selene at an extremely fast speed, and Selene calmly caught the object.
When she did, she saw that it was a folded paper. She looked at the guard with raised brows.
"That is a part of the map of our city. I see potential in you, that's why I gave you a map. Outsiders like you would normally have to purchase a map inside the city."
Selene raised her brows when she heard this, and she subtly glanced at Corey. Numerous thoughts went through her head, and she wisely chose not to respond to the guard's words.
"Thank you." She said with a flat expression, and the silver armored guard nodded.
"I'm Nima, and I welcome you to Gravenstone City… The Forsaken and Cursed City of the Old Ones."
