There were some demons that finally started to show fear when they were being purified by this mist.

Before this, the demons fought without any fear since they weren't afraid that they would lose their lives. But it was different now that the dark corruption energy wasn't enough to save their lives.

There were some that started to turn around in the face of the attacks of the human soldiers.

This was a strange scene where demons were actually afraid of humans, but it was only natural when the power of gods was involved.

Only it seemed that the demons were much more ruthless than humans when it came to how they treated deserters.

The moment that one corrupted demon ran away, there were others that started running along with that one corrupted demon. They formed a large group that started running away from the battlefield.

But as soon as that happened, there were other demons that turned around as well.

These demons didn't run, but rather raised their hands to point at the ones that ran away.

When the demon deserters noticed this, there were looks of fear that appeared on their faces. The one that ran first said, "No, wait, don't do it!"

But that was all that they got to say before the dark corruption energy appeared around them. This dark corruption energy didn't appear to protect the demon, but rather it seemed like it had been pulled out by something. It separated itself from the demon after being summoned and it even seemed like it was leaving the demon.

It didn't take long for the dark corruption energy to be completely pulled out of that one demon.

While it was happening, one could see that the demon seemed to be aging.

It was as if the vitality was being pulled out of the demon that deserted along with the dark corruption energy. It seemed that once the dark corruption energy was pulled out of the demon, it would lose its life.

Right after the dark corruption energy was pulled it, it floated through the air until it reached the demon that had pointed at the deserter.

It seemed that these demons were the ones that could control the dark corruption energy.

That made it clear that these demons were the ones that were higher ups compared to the rest of the demons.

That made them my targets.

If I could catch these demons, I might be able to get the information that I wanted from them.

So I raised the Staff of Earth and prepared to take them down personally.

That was until Moon came forward to grab my hand and pushed it down.

I looked at her with a surprised and confused look, but she just shook her head and raised the branch from the Tree of Life that I gave her. The way that she did this was as if she was saying that she would take care of it.

After a moment of hesitation, I slowly gave a nod of agreement.

I knew that she was right, I had let myself get too heated and thought that I was the only one that could take care of this matter.

There was a reason why I had given the relics to others in the first place, there was no need for me to do everything.

Not to mention that there might be others that were hiding in the demon army, so it would be dangerous for me to go by myself.

I was a bit too used to sacrificing myself...

Taking a deep breath, I said, "Be careful."

Moon gave a nod before waving her hand at the other elves that were with her.

These were elves that had come from the elven village and were here to fight with us.

As soon as they headed out, I immediately narrowed my eyes to pay attention to the ones that had pointed at the deserters. I wanted to see if there was anything that I could find from them.

Only when I looked at them closely, I couldn't help feeling that there was something strange about these demons.

The dark corruption energy that they pulled out from the deserters didn't disappear. Rather, they just stayed there in the air, almost as if it was being gathered in a single spot.

It continued to gather and float there without disappearing.

The demons just kept pointing at more and more of the deserters, harvesting more and more of this dark corruption energy, as well as taking more and more lives from these deserters.

It was hard to figure out what they were doing until I realized that...the dark corruption energy that they had gathered was getting dangerous.

All of the dark corruption energy that the demons had gathered had reached a certain point where it was extremely dense. It was starting to give off a terrifying aura with how condensed and powerful it seemed.

I wanted to call Moon and the others to come back, but it was already too late as they had reached the first demon commander.

When they approached, the demon commander immediately turned to look at them as if it could see them hiding among the human soldiers.

At the same time, the demon commander suddenly waved its hand and brought the mass of dark corruption energy closer to it.

After the mass of dark energy was brought over, it hovered there for a bit before it started to create a flow.

This flow ended with the demon commander.

It was as if the dark corruption energy was entering the body of the demon commander.

There was nothing that seemed to happen at first, but then it seemed like the demon commander was being mutated even further by the dark corruption energy.

It wasn't the only one that this was happening to.

The other demon commanders were doing the same thing.
