Chapter 11 - Is This Really a Monster Farm?
Chapter 11: Is This Really a Monster Farm?
After running to the exit, Su Mu noticed a gigantic figure gradually emerging from the entrance of the second level. Although he hadn’t seen what it looked like yet, Su Mu found it quite strange at first glance.
This thing is at least as big as a tank. How did it even squeeze through a hole that made me bend down to enter?
As the massive figure appeared, Su Mu saw a prompt on the system:
[Scarlet Boar King]
[Level: 10]
[Characteristics: Fat, Heavy, Bristle Spray]
[Description: A scarlet wild boar that fell into an energy stone pit as a child. After absorbing the essence of the stones, it mutated into the Boar King. Its thick bristles have long-range attack capabilities, making it extremely dangerous!]
Now, Su Mu understood the reason.
Who knows how many years that pig has been stuck in the energy stone pit?
Over time, the Boar King had grown massive from absorbing energy stone essence. Now it was too fat to escape. The pit must have been just large enough for it to roam around; otherwise, it might have been trapped there forever.
“This pig is huge,” Su Mu thought. “If I can kill it, it could feed an entire village for days.”
Su Mu realized that if he could kill the Scarlet Boar King, he wouldn’t have to worry about food for at least a month.
“Let’s try it first.”
Su Mu aimed his Anti-Evil Crossbow at the Scarlet Boar King’s body. In the pit, he couldn’t really aim at a specific spot, so he decided to just shoot.
The arrowhead pierced the beast’s thick hide, but it barely inflicted any damage. Given the enormous size of the boar, it wasn’t surprising.
“Humph!”
The Scarlet Boar King bellowed in fury, its rage echoing through the pit. Being trapped here for years was bad enough—now some insolent human dared to provoke it? Unforgivable!
The boar bristled, and suddenly, its needle-like quills shot out toward Su Mu. Realizing the danger, he ducked just in time, watching the deadly projectiles bury themselves into solid rock.
“This is going to be tough,” Su Mu muttered. “Since this pig can’t get out, I’ll deal with it later.”
Confident that the Boar King was confined to the pit, Su Mu turned and left the mine. Patience would serve him better—there had to be an easier way to defeat the creature.
…
Outside the pit, Su Mu spotted two Skeleton Dogs blocking the mine entrance, their eerie howls filling the air.
“Is this energy stone mine actually a monster farm?” Su Mu mused.
From the system, he understood that the Scarlet Boar King had absorbed the energy stones’ power. Could the mine itself attract monsters? If so, this place was a natural breeding ground.
There was no time for further speculation; the Skeleton Dogs demanded his attention. Fortunately, his Anti-Evil Crossbow made quick work of them.
Su Mu spent the next half-hour camping near the mine’s entrance. His suspicions were confirmed—monsters were indeed drawn to the mine. During that time, he had already killed seven or eight Skeleton Dogs and even encountered another Scarlet Boar, which he quickly dealt with.
As long as Su Mu stayed at the entrance, the monsters would keep coming to him, making it easy for him to shoot them down. Su Mu increasingly felt like he had found a treasure trove. By hiding in the shadows, monsters would come to him, and his experience bar and loot would increase rapidly.
While waiting for more monsters to appear, Su Mu occupied himself by preparing a trade offer. Pulling out a hundred Purified Bones, he marveled at the high drop rate his Anti-Evil Crossbow provided.
He listed the items on the World Channel Market:
[Item Listed: Purified Bones X100]
[Trade Option 1: Stone x10]
[Trade option 2: Wood x3]
[Trade Option 3: Fragmented Gold Grass x1]
After setting the trade options, Su Mu posted them on the trade forum. The channel of the world forum was still full of activity. As time passed, everyone was trying to defeat the killer skeleton dogs. Even the discussions among the top 100 first killers had died down a bit.
[User 1: I really envy the big shots who can trade drops from the Skeleton Dogs.]
[User 1: I barely managed to kill one, and the bones it dropped aren’t even enough for me to use.”]
[User 2: Why even trade? Prices are all in energy stones—only the top 100 first killers have those right now.”]
[User 3: Help! I got injured fighting a skeleton dog, and it even stole my food from my newbie pack.]
[User 3: Can anyone spare me some food?]Nôv(el)B\\jnn
[User 4: How dare you carry life-saving food? You’re a real character.]
[User 5: Wait a minute, holy crap, check out the trade market!]
[User 6: Some god has uploaded a hundred Skeleton Dog Drops.]
[User 7: Huh? Could it be a bug in the trade market?]
[User 8: That guy named ‘Turde’ from the Beautiful Country has only uploaded five purified bones so far.]
