Chapter 291 Gloomy Situation
Shortly after closing the game forum, Carmen noticed both Xu Feng and Tracy were gone.
She thought they had ditched her, but noticed they were merely sitting on a couch from afar.
As she gazed at them, her eyes unconsciously locked on the calm demeanor of Xu Feng, almost as if she had been mesmerized by him.
And no, it was not a gaze full of romantic stuff, but a gaze full of admiration.
This time, she had truly admired Xu Feng's actions.
Without needing to do much, he had silently orchestrated a devious plan to trap the regular players who were convinced by the bounty reward set by Hundred Ghost, and GRIM corporation behind the Reaver Guild.
That was what a true guild leader should be like!
Silent on the side, but deadly on the outside.
Calm demeanor, but ruthless in reality.
His methods alone had managed to destroy the foundation of most players who thought they were striking gold but were in fact a pile of dirt.
'I bet Hundred Ghost must be feeling like crap after this incident.' Carmen thought, letting out a small snicker from imagining his current expression.
Meanwhile, at a tavern in Star Falls City, the atmosphere was extremely gloomy and frightening.
"Um, Guild Leader, I think we should change our place." One Knight Lancer wearing the Reaver Guild Emblem said nervously. He could sense the hostility among numerous players who were currently glaring at their Reaver Guild members.
"What? Do you think this trash can harm us?" Sitting at the center of the table, Hundred Ghost sneered coldly.
Currently, his facial expression was truly a sight to behold, having been fooled and toyed fiercely by that damnable Lin Feng.
His fist was clenched so tight that it felt as if he was crushing his own hands.
"I dare them to make a move, so I can have an excuse to plummet them to relieve some of my stress." Hundred Ghost scoffed, wanting nothing more than a punching bag to come up to him.
For this incident alone, not only was he fiercely reprimanded by the higher-ups, but it even alerted the GRIM corporation business partners, who were similarly stuck in this malicious trap.
During this time, another person entered the tavern, and instantly sensed the strong killing intent.
Eagle Snipe felt a cold chill running down his spine as he hurriedly rushed to his guild's table.
Only when he sat down with other members to safeguard the area did he relax subtly.
"So how did it go?" Hundred Ghost ignored his expression and asked solemnly. Read latest stories on empire
"I've spoken with the employees of the Vanguard Hotel, and they told me there are no rooms available for reserve." Eagle Snipe responded with a bitter smile.
BAM!
Hundred Ghost suddenly slammed his palms at the table, not caring about the surroundings atmosphere.
Instead, he questioned, "Didn't I tell you we must get a room in the hotel? Currently, only that hotel has a place that grants us a 50% mana concentration increase."
He needed the room not for himself, but the guilds who were partnered with their branch Reaver Guild. The higher-ups had already warned him to quickly satisfy them, otherwise, his position might be at risk once GRIM corporation got furious.
Given they were the ones spearheading and ended up in such a mess, GRIM corporation was in a tough spot to pacify its partnering companies.
After all, this was reputation at stake. Usually, they wouldn't even care about their partnering companies much, given it was all just for profit.
However, this time, it was a matter of their credibility and they had previously vouched they would gain immense profits. Once their rivals heard about them making such a mess, it would be a miracle if their stock price didn't drop, much less their fame.
"Hundred Ghost, you should stop trying to reprimand me like my superior." Eagle Snipe was equally not in a good mood, especially what he had just gone through. "I'm merely helping you to clean up the mess you made."
"The mess I made?" Hundred Ghost snorted, raised his finger, and pointed at him. "You were agreeing to the plan as well, Eagle Snipe. Stop trying to push all the blame on me and think you can get away scot-free."
Eagle Snipe shrugged in response. He was not the Guild Leader, so how can he be faulted?
His so-called agreement could merely be brushed off as supporting the Guild Leader's decision and not wanting to disharmonize the guild.
Hundred Ghost also understood this concept, which was why he was beyond furious at Eagle Snipe.
"Tell those guests who rented the room that I'm willing to offer them 1 gold coin. I doubt they would refuse the money." He gritted his teeth and offered, bleeding his wealth.
A gold coin was still rare in the Divine World, and without paying a lot of money, one couldn't even trade for enough silver coins to reach that value.
Meanwhile, Eagle Snipe looked at his companion as if he was a fool.
"Sure, why don't you go to the hotel and ask one of the renters if they want to lend it out for your gold coin." He sneered sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
Eagle Snipe truly wanted to see how ridiculous Hundred Ghost would look like if he truly dared to negotiate with one of the renters.
'Each one of them were fucking wealthy NPCs. I even got my ass whooped earlier for trying to bring up one gold coin, and they just casually flex two gold coins.' Recalling the incident, Eagle Snipe felt his face burning red.
Hundred Ghost wasn't ignorant either once he noticed something was amiss with Eagle Snipe ever since his return.
'Just who are those renters?' He questioned silently, before pondering deeply. Previously, he had been hammered hard by his superiors, so his mind was somewhat clouded.
However, now that he actually took the time to think, he realized the hotel rooms couldn't be rented out for the players when they were considered the first arrivals.
'It can't be… that hotel is full of NPCs?' Astounded, Hundred Ghost seemed to understand why Eagle Snipe was abnormal. He definitely got mistreated by those NPCs.
