Chapter 920: 919 Mrs. Wen's Plan
Chapter 920: Chapter 919 Mrs. Wen’s Plan
Wen Chi was busy until almost 7 o’clock and was planning to go back to his own home when he suddenly remembered his mother’s words, instructing him to come back to the old house after work.
So he turned the car around.
When he arrived home, Mrs. Wen was muttering in the living room, “He’s not coming back, is he? Now that he’s grown up, with his wings fully hardened, he’s treating my words like a breeze past his ear.”
Wen Chi couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time as he realized this was the image his mother had of him.
“Mom, I’m back,” Wen Chi greeted her proactively.
Sure enough, Mrs. Wen’s eyes lit up when she saw him, “You’re back, hurry over for dinner. Knowing you were coming, I made duck soup.”
Mrs. Wen was beaming with joy as she pulled Wen Chi to the dining table.
“Okay, thanks, Mom. By the way, didn’t you say you had something to discuss?” Wen Chi casually asked as he sat down.
“Eat your fill first, then we can talk.” At that moment, Mrs. Wen was in no rush anymore.
Wen Chi took his time eating.
After he finished eating and sat down on the couch, Mrs. Wen immediately came over and started, “Chi, it’s still about that matter, about having Huanhuan come back to be a dutiful wife and mother. Women should do less of those high-profile jobs. My friends have seen the movies Huanhuan acted in, hugging and embracing other men, it’s just not decent.”
“Mom, that’s art, and I’ve watched Huanhuan’s works too. I think they’re quite normal and there’s nothing inappropriate,” Wen Chi knew his mother still hadn’t given up on this idea.
“I used to think it was just acting in some dramas, doing some advertisements, nothing much. But when my friends told me like this, it was hard for me to accept. Plus you’re busy, she’s busy, my poor Warm sunlight is suffering. While you two are still young, you can have another child.” Mrs. Wen used emotion and reason to persuade him.
“Mom, we do have plans, and we will take good care of Warm sunlight. Don’t worry. Don’t you also see the child often? She’s well taken care of,” Wen Chi felt a headache coming on.
“Wen Chi, I’m talking to you because I want you to discuss this with Huanhuan. It wouldn’t be good if I brought it up directly with her,” Mrs. Wen’s words carried a hint of a threat.
“Mom, life is finally a little peaceful for everyone; can we not stir things up, please? I’ll ask Huanhuan about it, but I won’t force her because she’s an excellent actress. I’m proud of her, and I hope she continues to produce great work for the audience,” Wen Chi said imploringly.
“You talk to her first. If she doesn’t agree, then I will ask her. You don’t know, now that she’s married, a wife and a mother, she should behave herself and play her role well. Look at you, you’ve lost weight, with no soup or anything to eat regularly, how can that be alright?” Mrs. Wen expressed her concern.
Wen Chi smiled wryly; he clearly had gained weight.
“Okay, I got it, Mom. Don’t worry about it; take good care of yourself,” Wen Chi glanced at the time; it was already past 8 o’clock. He hadn’t told Huanhuan he would be at the old house.
“Don’t think that just because I’m old, you can brush me off,” Mrs. Wen said miffedly.
No wonder people say daughters are like little cotton-padded jackets, keeping their parents warm, while sons forget their mothers once they have a wife.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
“My dear Mother Empress, I wouldn’t dare, even if you gave me ten guts,” Wen Chi hurriedly said, “Mom, didn’t you want to go to France with your friends? The weather is very nice now; you can go out for a trip. I can help arrange the itinerary for you.”
Wen Chi thought this was a good idea. As long as he could divert the old lady’s attention, she wouldn’t spend so much time thinking about all sorts of things.
