Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 972 The questions that followed

[Eon's POV: ]

"What now?"

"Now… we go back."

There were only a few of those cult members left on the island after the rest had sacrificed themselves for the summoning of that strange creature.

But then the rest of the cultists who actually summoned the creature gave their life to forcefully corrupt the creature and made it into a high demonic beast.

"The headmaster will look after the cleanup for now, the rest will search the island for any remnants, and those who were done with their task will either return to the academy, or in the other districts."

The creature that resulted from this process was a being with high Magic resistance and near immunity from the physical attacks.

'The people that were fighting this being, including the organisers and the people who helped the headmaster were all specialists with strong abilities.'

And the creature still persisted against them, posing a threat so great they knew they couldn't just let it be or else their initial plans aside, they would have to face grave consequences for their actions.

'Holding back wasn't an option in the first place, but since this was the headmaster's home and also the place where he could not use the strongest kind of magic that he possessed, he took this opportunity to show All of us something special.'

He could have continued with the various powerful attacks and made the creature fall down with strategic force.

But instead, he used a power that only he could use, and did something that perhaps even those cultists might not have expected…

'A complete obliteration of the enemy from the very core of its existence.'

It was an unbelievable sight… for all of Us who saw it. Including the individuals that we might not know the existence of yet.

The cult members' actions until now indicated that they were giving their all to keep their position on the island, making everyone of the cultists give their lives away was also an indirect indication of how desperately they wanted this island.

'But then again, why would they make all of them give their lives instead of just a few of them or not even keep one or so alive?'

This also implied something.

And this question was not simply something I can speculate over by myself.

"Anyway…"

So I asked the rest of them about their opinions as we all sighed, looked at the scene for a moment more, and then turned away from the window.

"The island of magic's wealth was important for them, but not as important as their ultimate purpose, world destruction.

They might be fighting as the last struggle, but… I don't think that's all there is to this plan of theirs from how much we know about them."

President knew how smart those people were even while being pretty much mindless puppets.

Not only were they highly trained in their own unique abilities, they were also not simply humans at that point.

'All the cultists that were on the ranks similar or higher to the Bishops possessed a unique intelligence that made them different from the other members.'

They weren't like the Priest captains that merely led them, they were smart and Crazier than the rest of those dumb mindless bastards.

"Hmph. Those bastards must still have something up their sleeves. They wouldn't just let this island go. Like, just knowing the ins and outs of the island people is advantageous."

Cradle was right as well.

But then again…

"If that's the case, then what are we missing? Who's the one working with them that we haven't caught yet…?"

The questions were piling up and we did not have any answer for them.

"What if the one that's connected to them isn't someone that anyone would doubt, or someone that would raise any suspicions about them?" Rein might also be right.

We had eyes and ears all around the island, but none of us were omniscient or all knowing.

We don't have the power or resources to look at every single person present on this island and keep a track on each of their movements.

"Still though, who could it be?"

A single person of high authority? A system that was unrelated to the cult itself, an information divergence they have created, a network of many people or groups or organisations or Things perhaps.

"We might never find out what they are after like this."

And, maybe, they knew that as well and that was the only reason they did it like this.

"Why specifically a summoning circle of such a specific kind? Why kill even the leftover grunts after the material gathering, why corrupt a creature that they could have manipulated through simple means, and what exactly were those daggers that they used?"

How was it related to them? And what exactly was its purpose.

"Hmmm…"

I thought about it for a moment.

Then I thought back to how those cult bastards' bodies disintegrated into energy before the creature started being corrupted.

We all had seen them take their own lives… but, did they really die?

'Lucy?'

[{ *Will you use a question, master?* }]

'Do I have to?'

[{ *…* }]

'Yes, use today's question. Tell me… did All of them really die? Was there any misleading information in what we have perceived? Are we missing anything here?'

Using the (Questions) wasn't that tricky anymore.

I just had to connect the questions in the best way possible.

[{ *Yes, all of Them died at that moment and there wasn't any Misleading information but you are still missing something.* }]

There weren't any details, just like how it always is with these answers.

But, I know we have missed something.

"Excuse me for a second, everyone."

We were almost at the end of the Headmaster's office's corridor but I turned around as soon as this new question popped into my mind.

[{ "Headmaster…" }]

Then, I interfered with the Network that the headmaster and the other's were using with Celes, and connected with the headmaster directly.

[{ "You should check the area in the astral world. And now that the threat is gone, can we-." }]

[{ "If you are doing this, it obviously means the threat is still present. And no, we have been keeping an eye on the astral realm since we started. There have been no unusual movements in the astral realm." }]

He wasn't happy that I was talking with him even though he had strictly asked us not to when they were still working on this matter on the field.

But there was no choice this time.

[{ "Yes, but I'm not asking you to check for any Abnormal activities. I want you to see if there has been any kind of activity at all.

Remember how you Obliterated the creature from its very core? Then, there shouldn't-." }]

[{ "There isn't supposed to be anything left of it, yes. I noticed that as well. There isn't anything there in the astral realm. Or in any of the gateways." }]

"…"

Back to the headmaster's office again, we looked back to the window again and this time, I used my third eye to look into the place where the battle had taken place.

"The daggers also vanished along with the cultists when they killed themselves."

And they died, that much was certain.

But, what happened to all of the energy that they had turned into after it corrupted the creature?

[{ "Why was this specific creature corrupted by that strange energy? Why wasn't anything else…?" }]

I was still thinking out loud at this point, but out of the blue, an idea popped up into my head.

[{ "No. Wait… wait wait wait! Eon! You're right!" }]

And, it seemed like the headmaster also had the exact same idea at that moment.

[{ *Origin True Energy.* }]

If one follows the truth of Origin True Energy, they would know how all the energy is ultimately part of a single primordial energy born in the great [{( Void )}].

Even disregarding the first story of genesis, if we can follow the other two prominent stories of genesis and say that the Existence of a True single energy is a core [{( Truth )}] of this world, the fact that the trick that they had used to corrupt that simple creature still stands.

[{ *All matter is energy even if we cannot say all energy is matter.* }]

The fact that they used an object to 'kill' themselves and their souls that would have left their bodies along with the 'energy' that they had turned into, still did not affect the astral realm did not make any sense.

[{ "Yes… thank goodness…" }]

The biggest question rising in the minds of those who understood energy on our level right now, would obviously be what happened to the 'energy' that did not go to the astral realm?

"Souls or the Astral body cannot exist in the physical world."

But certain energies like Mana and others can. Which includes even the demonic energy that these cultists use.

"What's wrong, Lucifer?"

"Hey, what's up with the headmaster as well?"

"…oh."

If we believe they turned their entire physical body into an energy form that seeped into the giant mud creature which actually had a very weak mental body compared to its abundant physical potential, then, shouldn't the overall 'energy level' of that creature increase with that forced 'boost' to its strength?

'Theoretically, that's how it should have been.'

But since the nature of the creature and the nature of the boosting demonic energy were contradictory, the creature with a weak mental state could not suppress that flooding energy and accepted it, turning into a demonic creature.

The increased powers, size, strength, and Purpose that it received through this process made it go against everything else around it.

And, since it was not practically in a sane state, it did its best to endure the assault of the enemies instead of using the demonic energy to its advantage and dealing with it like the demonic beasts actually would.

'And ultimately it died at the hands of the headmaster.'

But, the headmaster destroyed its core to completely obliterate it, Dispersing most of the 'energy' that it was made of which, at that time, was of demonic nature.

"Neither headmaster nor even I would have cared about the Pure energy that the creature was originally made of since, what we were dealing with was a demonic beast in our eyes, a great threat that would harm a lot of people if it went away."

Do the headmaster dealt only with that demonic creature, forgetting the being that it used to be, the being that had accepted the 'energy' which those Cultists had turned into.

[{ "Looks like we still owe you, Eon. You're helping us even while being all the way there." }]

The headmaster was looking in our direction from all the way there as if he could see us. And since I could actually see him with my eyes as well, I smiled bitterly.

'This could have been the ugliest incident of the island's history if we had left it like that.'

The energy that the original creature accepted was still present in the physical world which one could only notice if they referenced the astral realm.

It was near impossible to notice it in the physical world with its minuscule scale, but that very minuscule amount would have become a seed for another one of the monstrosity of the same level if it was left there.

"Haaaaaa…"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Just one of those demonic beasts was difficult for all those people, then, what if a bunch more popped out of nowhere a few days, weeks, months, years, decades later?

'Every single molecule of that beast's original form which Those bastards' demonic energy condensate had affected, was the same as an embryo.'

Since they grew independently with environmental energy, a lot of them would have been reborn as an independent being because of the demonic energy that still existed inside of the Soul Fragments of the ones who gave their lives and turned into that energy.

[{ *It could have been a disaster.* }]

But thanks to Lucy, we noticed it this time.

Still…

"This could have been horribly dangerous."

And, the fact that those demonic cult bastards had cooked a plan as elaborate as this one was not within any of our expectations until now, made this whole situation much worse than one could imagine.
