Chapter 760: Chapter 54: Demon Luo (Begging for votes at the beginning of the month~ kisses!)
Perhaps the biggest mistake of Zen was the huge prize drawn by the founder of the sect, a top-tier Buddha Position. During the ancient era of the Fierce Realm warriors, such a prize was enough to fill the desires of all, and awe them into submission.
However, after the martial arts flourished for a thousand years and with the emergence of numerous Bodhisattvas, the Buddha which everyone in Zen talked about but no one ever achieved turned into an elusive dream for the practitioners of Zen – a goal coveted yet unreachable.
Every Zen practitioner firmly believed in the existence of Buddha, yet no one had ever seen him. Even those who claimed to have seen him were merely spreading hearsay, unable to withstand any scrutiny.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Perhaps it was due to being blind in front of the light, or perhaps they had forgotten. No one had ever thought about whether the path set by the founder of Zen was wrong from the start.
No one would think so, let alone dare to do so. But does this logic not exist simply because no one thought about it?
When Tang Luo ruthlessly pulled off the veil of Zen, a massive crack appeared in Yankong’s Zen Heart.
He must either admit that there is no true Buddha in the world or acknowledge that Zen Buddhism is wrong. Either choice would deliver a fatal blow to Yankong. Now, he’s facing a dilemma.
Witnessing a crack in his Zen Heart honed over thirty years, Yankong felt fear. Looking at Tang Luo’s indifferent face, he shouted out, “You are a demon.”
“Pfft!”
Tang Luo laughed: “So, speaking facts and reason is demonic? Or is it the case that anyone called a demon by Wuxiang Zen Temple becomes a demon?”
“There is no need for sophistry.” Yankong shook his head and said, “You are a killer, destroying the virtues and fortunes of all beings, preventing them from realizing their subtle virtues. You are an obstructer, hindering the path of cultivators, preventing them from progressing diligently in Zen. You are a power, possessing formidable spiritual power, capable of causing trouble to those who have cultivated out-of-world laws. You are an evildoer, due to excessive passion and desires, fearing life and death, destroying the wisdom root of those who transcend the world. You are the incarnate of the heavenly demon born into this world. Today, I will transform into the wrathful king, and subdue you!”
“Rather than resolving the issues of Buddhism, you want to eliminate the person who raised the issues. To be honest, the way you Zen folks cultivate is truly impressive.” Tang Luo gave a thumbs-up and praised, “Don’t misunderstand, I’m not mocking but genuinely admiring. After all, it’s always better to suppress all opposing and differing voices or label them as demons than to fall into demonic obstruction yourselves. The Zen predecessor who came up with this concept of demons is a true genius.”
“However.” Lowering his thumbs-up, Tang Luo spread his hands out regretfully towards Yankong, “I’m afraid it’s going to be difficult for you to subdue this demon. Why not simply acknowledge the absence of a true Buddha or accept the erroneousness of Zen Buddhism?”
Yankong, who had deemed Tang Luo a demonic obstacle, naturally wouldn’t listen to Tang Luo’s words. In his eyes, Tang Luo was the embodiment of a heavenly demon in the human flesh, a test sent by the Buddha to challenge him. All the words from Tang Luo’s mouth were merely aimed at destroying his Zen Heart.
However, having been on the receiving end of Tang Luo’s punch, Yankong did not underestimate him. He knew the power behind the punch that had sent him flying into a mountainside. Despite having confidence in his physical perfection, he fell short when compared to Tang Luo’s Dao body infused with the Two Ambiguity Innate Qi. Nevertheless, the reason Zen was respected as the leader in physical cultivation was due to the countless body-strengthening secrets they had along with their array of astonishing abilities.
When it comes to comparing physical abilities, neither Wuxiang Zen Temple nor Yankong himself had ever met an opponent.
“Om Bavandze Sara Dho Hum, may the Sixth Vajrasattva preside and eradicate karma and sins!”
As Yankong chanted the mantra, a phantom of a three-headed and six-armed Vajrasattva emerged behind him. The three faces were the Dharma Aspects of the Dharmma King and the two Wrathful Deities, and the six arms held a mace, sword, hammer, bowl, bottle, and rod — each as vivid as life.
Vajrasattva descended to earth, shining divine light from his three heads and six arms upon Yankong. This was a profound form of empowerment. In a short while, three Dharma Aspects grew on Yankong’s neck, and six arms sprouted from his back, each holding Buddhist instruments. Yankong had transformed into a four-faced and eight-armed Vajra Wisdom King, which was enough to intimidate anyone when they saw him.
Obviously, Yankong was planning to turn to violence as he couldn’t win the argument.
In fact, a battle was inevitable today between the two, regardless of whether Tang Luo or Yankong emerged victorious in their argument.
After all, martial arts isn’t charity. Martial artists prefer action to words. Although he had anticipated a tough fight, Yankong’s performance greatly surprised Tang Luo. He quickly instructed Wen RuoLan and Tang Xing, who looked puzzled, “Get back! This is the Vajrasattva Mantra, one of the top-secret techniques of Zen. Its power is unpredictable and once we start fighting, I will not be able to protect you.”
While speaking, Yankong had begun chanting the second mantra with his hands forming the Mudra of Mo Li Chi Tian. “Om Ma Re Zhe Meng Sa Ha, by the empowerment from this Mudra, all heavenly demons, evil spirits, the wicked, devils, heretics shall be rendered powerless.”
Five true Buddha characters sprang from Yankong’s mouth, forming seals that attached themselves to his chest, forehead, left shoulder, right shoulder, and crown. The true character seals turned into divine light that protected half of his body, causing Yankong’s upper torso to appear blurry, as if something was obstructing one’s vision.
Even through Tang Luo’s eyes, he could only see countless Zen powers flowing around, obscuring Yankong himself.
“If you don’t get away now, this guy will keep growing stronger. Are you really bent on screwing me over?”
Tang Luo looked helplessly at the two people by his side, who were entranced by Yankong’s transformation, and spoke again.
If it weren’t for Wen RuoLan’s kindness and Tang Xing’s confused state, Tang Luo would not have allowed Yankong this much time to chant his spells. He had already realized that Yankong, as a Buddha Son of Zen, would know plenty of mantras and secret techniques. If he delayed any longer, he feared that a true monster might emerge, causing him a headache.
After all, his spiritual power didn’t just fall from the sky. He needed to conserve as much as possible.
Wen RuoLan snapped out of her trance, gave Yankong a complex look, and said to Tang Luo, “Be careful.” Then, she grabbed Tang Xing and ran into the distance, while the little monk, still in a daze, just followed along blankly.
Although the original naive young boy was a bit lustful, he was lively and agile. However, after encountering Yankong, he had turned into this dazed and foolish state. Tang Luo couldn’t help but feel angry about this. After watching the two of them leave, he coldly said to Yankong, “Now that the obstacles are gone, let’s see how I twist off all four of your heads!”
The ground shattered. Before Yankong could chant his third mantra, Tang Luo pounced on him. The ground rumbled with each step, causing the entire Medicine Valley to shake.
“Boom~~~~~~~”
Like a massive ancient bell being struck in the heavens, Tang Luo and Yankong clashed, creating an echoing, thunderous sound.
