Chapter 74 068 State Visit (Part 2)

This day was destined to be the center of attention.

Two days ago, the Foreign Ministry of Country C held an overnight press conference, releasing news that His Majesty Bai Zhongqi, the Iridium Star United Empire's Imperial Chancellor, would visit China in two days.

Journalists almost broke their heads vying to ask the Foreign Ministry spokesperson a question. Especially foreign media reporters, who, unable to inquire about the Iridium people, could only ask the Chinese at this time, wondering when Iridium would start official visits to other countries.

Some also felt that their previous concerns had finally become a reality; the language of the alien civilization was identical to that of China, and their Chancellor was essentially a Chinese person born and raised in China. This natural affinity would naturally lead the seemingly non-aggressive aliens to take the initiative and firstly interact with China.

The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry had a lofty air, basically not answering much, with over half of the ten questions receiving the diplomatic response of "no further information is available for disclosure."

After the foreign anchor's craze over the domestic live streaming platforms, the visit of Bai Zhongqi, the Chancellor of the Iridium Star United Empire and former Chinese citizen, to China officially further ignited the media industry.

Although state visits are generally reserved for diplomatic nations, it was evident that the arrival of the Imperial Chancellor of Iridium Star could very likely lead to the establishment of formal diplomatic relations with China.

People across the nation and the world were looking forward with anticipation, and the news media were going mad, converging towards the Imperial Capital. The news that nearly caused some journalists to smash their cameras and camcorders soon followed.

The Iridium party would arrive in a large spaceship; to avoid hindering normal commercial flight operations, Iridium's visitation spaceship would land at the Western Suburb Airport of the Imperial Capital, an airport reserved for the air force. Not only that, but press media permitted to enter this airport for coverage had to obtain special approval; otherwise, filming was not allowed.

This forced some domestic and international reporters who hadn't obtained the credentials to only be outside the Western Suburb Airport, miles away, aiming their long and short lenses at the sky, insisting on capturing the spaceship even if they couldn't get a glimpse of the alien Chancellor's face.

For this arrival on Earth, Bai Zhongqi was aboard the same Azurewave he had taken for the first time. His emotions, however, were utterly different from before as he boarded the luxurious official spaceship. He subconsciously gripped his left arm where an advanced bone-neuro interface was running the game save chip that controlled all Iridium Star equipment.

He was now the undisputed Chancellor of Iridium Star, and even the most powerful man in this stellar system.

Outside the spaceship's porthole was the increasingly distinct outline of the vast land, the sprawling human structures gave Bai Zhongqi, who had flown over the Imperial Capital many times, a sense of déjà vu, with an undertone of things changed, people departed. He had never considered changing nationality, but even if he claimed to be Chinese now, it wouldn't be very convincing.

The Azurewave's landing was relatively soft; even though it could land much more violently and swiftly under normal circumstances, it opted for a slow descent to accommodate the people who had come to greet it on the ground.

Dressed in his white Chancellor uniform, Bai Zhongqi looked tall and handsome. His attire somewhat resembled the medal and decoration adorned European nobility uniform, except that it was tailored in the style of Iridium Star. A tight collar with two silver stripes circled the neck, with a golden clasp in the middle featuring the symbol of a three-pronged lightning bolt.

The hem was slightly long and had no pockets at the chest but two at the lower part, with details like cuffs and pocket openings highlighted with golden threads. The Chancellor uniform wasn't overly complex, but its details exuded the wearer's nobility.

"Your Majesty, it's time to disembark," said Ba Qinyuan, the accompanying Imperial Minister of Foreign Affairs, with due respect.

Bai Zhongqi nodded. He wanted to muster his Chancellor's aura, but seeing Nan Ma, the Star Warrior Master in tow, fiddling with his phone, Bai Zhongqi instantly thought of something and said, "Uh, Master, you can't live stream when we step out, wait until the official ceremony is over."

Nan Ma had indeed planned to live stream the event and could only reluctantly respond, "I shall heed Your Majesty's decree."

Shaking his head at the troublemaker, Bai Zhongqi signaled, and the Azurewave's hatch opened. Adjusting his expression, he strode out boldly.

He did not wave to the crowd like some foreign heads of state seen on TV when disembarking; instead, he moved with a sense of urgency, quickly descending the gangway. Of course, the Azurewave's gangway was inherently short, not many steps were needed.

The first step on the ground touched the soft red carpet. Bai Zhongqi had never walked on such before; it was novel to him, but now his priority was to maintain the demeanor befitting the Iridium Star Chancellor.

People he had only seen on television smiled at the end of the red carpet. A flurry of flashbulbs fired at him, a deluge of film instantly immortalized. The moment Bai Zhongqi's feet touched Earth again, his own true homeland, his heart lightened.

No matter how grand the spectacle, with high-tier diplomatic rites combined with possibly more journalists and welcoming personnel than the airport garrison, Bai Zhongqi's mind was preoccupied with a single thought at the moment.

I am the Supreme Chancellor of the Iridium Star United Empire, grace bestowed upon this place.

Head high, chest out, he walked confidently forward. Even the photographers couldn't help but feel this was indeed what a powerful alien civilization's Chancellor should look like, far from the rumored inexperienced common man, a minor Chinese student without any world experience.

A handshake, a greeting.

Then another plethora of flashbulbs captured what might be a momentous historic scene.

The atmosphere seemed both excited and rather silent, followed by accompanying inspections of the military honor guard. The spirit and appearance of the honor guard soldiers, a head taller than Bai Zhongqi, truly was not just for show. Bai Zhongqi's presence was not outshone in the slightest as he walked over the red carpet, nodding slightly at the honor guard as a sign of respect.

Despite the broad scale of the welcome, the actual time spent at the airport was very short. Bai Zhongqi had no plans to deliver any speeches at the airport or engage in any superfluous activities.

He quickly got into a red-flag sedan. Besides his guards, the only other person in the car was the indomitable Star Warrior Master Nan Ma. At this time, Nan Ma took out his phone again and asked, "Your Majesty, why don't we collaborate on a live stream? You can be my guest, I'll flaunt your name for some clout, and I'll split the gift vouchers with you, how about that?"

By now, Bai Zhongqi was familiar with Nan Ma's temperament and, rolling his eyes, replied very directly, "No."

Nan Ma looked helpless and said, "Why go for a cold image? It'd be better to be more down-to-earth."
