Chapter 377 Taking over Dongping City.
Inside the Celestial Heavenly Store, the atmosphere was thick with tension, marred by nervousness.
The five most powerful individuals in Dongping City stood before a young man casually sipping his tea. But this was no ordinary tea; it was spiritual tea, a rare delicacy that few could afford or appreciate.
Despite their presence, the young man didn't even spare them a glance. As they stood there, desperate to speak, his indifference toward them became glaringly obvious.
Yet, none of the five dared to be angry. Each forced a smile, trying to hide their fear and uncertainty.
Time seemed to crawl, the silence raising the tension among the five. Several times, they tried to speak but faltered, too frightened to say the wrong thing and invite his wrath.
Any other person would have called the young man's behavior a bluff, but they knew better. His demeanor wasn't pretense; he truly did not see them as anything important.
This realization struck them deeply.
These men held vast power and influence in Dongping City—especially the City Lord, often regarded as the uncrowned king of the city. Yet, in the eyes of this young man, they were nothing more than insignificant specks of dust.
It dawned on them then: they had underestimated the sheer might of the Celestial Heavenly Store.
If the store had easily destroyed the Necoris invaders, what could they possibly do against such a power? They were not even worth a second thought.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the young man finished his tea and raised his head, casting his gaze over the five individuals.
Each time his eyes landed on one of them, they felt an oppressive force pressing down on their very souls. Without meaning to, they all lowered their heads.
Shocked, their hearts pounded in their chests. The suppression they felt was unlike anything they had ever encountered, even from the terrifying Necoris.
This young man didn't feel like one of them—he seemed like a higher being, from a race far above their own.
How could this be?! they all exclaimed in their minds, sweat trickling down their foreheads.
Zimo, the young man, smirked with disdain. If it weren't for His Majesty's laziness, these five would have been killed already.
Yet, without even lifting a finger, just a fraction of his power had subdued them.
How could they not be afraid?
Clearing his throat, Zimo spoke slowly, his tone filled with indifference. "Have you learned your lesson?"
Like pecking birds, the five nodded quickly, unsure whether they should speak or remain silent. The cunning Mo Clan leader, however, summoned her courage and flashed a seductive smile.
"Y-Young Master—"
Bang!
Before she could finish, a powerful force slammed into her, sending her crashing into the wall behind her.
Ahhh!
A pained groan escaped her lips as blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. She raised her head, staring at Zimo in terror.
Fear gripped her heart like a vice. She had only meant to flatter him, to gain favor, but instead, she had been tossed aside like garbage.
"If I see a bloodstain on my floor, I'll kill all your clansmen," Zimo said coldly, his voice devoid of emotion.
What?!
The remaining four men widened their eyes in disbelief, their hearts racing, and cold sweat drenching their spines.
As for the Mo Clan leader, she was visibly trembling, with regret and terror written all over her face.
Why did I have to be the first to speak? she cursed herself, quickly dropping to her knees and pulling out a handkerchief to wipe the floor, even though her blood hadn't spilled there.
Turning his gaze to the four frozen men, Zimo continued. "For the store to let everything go, you must accomplish one thing for us." He paused, letting them digest his words.
"Outside the Boiling Desert, at the four intersections, the store wants to build a large black pagoda. Can you do it?"
His gaze landed on the City Lord and the others, sharp and unwavering.
Without hesitation, the City Lord and the clan leaders nodded their heads, relief flooding through them.
Building a pagoda at that location might be difficult, but with all of them working together, it was far from impossible.
"Speak!" Zimo commanded.
For a moment, no one dared to say a word, fearing they might provoke him. They had all witnessed Zimo's terrifying strength and irrational actions, and none of them wanted to risk angering him.
Finally, the City Lord gathered his courage and spoke, his voice laced with respect. "Y-Young Master, thank you for sparing our clans. We will begin the construction immediately. Also, the resources of the city are at your disposal."
"Good," Zimo replied with a nod.
Seeing this, the other clan leaders realized the City Lord had successfully earned some favor from the young master. Not wanting to be left behind, they quickly began promising their support to the store as well.
The following day, news of the meeting spread throughout Dongping City, shocking its inhabitants. Since the rise of the City Lord and the four clans, never had a single organization been able to force them to submit.
Even the notorious Wei Clan, known for their arrogance, cowered in fear of the Celestial Heavenly Store.
The Mo Clan, infamous for their cunning, had met their downfall. Zimo had forced them to pay five times what the other clans had paid before he allowed their people to leave.
They realized in front of absolute strength, cunningness and schemes were meaningless.
Another announcement was made as the city reeled from this sudden power shift. The four clans and the City Lord's mansion began mass recruiting workers for a grand project—the construction of the black pagoda.
Moreover, they revealed that anyone who participated in the project would work for the Celestial Heavenly Store.
And so, thousands of people flocked to the recruitment, eager to be associated with the store.
The name of the Celestial Heavenly Store had now become a force to be reckoned with in Dongping City.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
